I don't consider the Islamic factor as an obstacle for Turkey's entrance to the European Union (EU), the Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev exclusively told Trend, commenting on the opinion that the fact that Turkey is a Muslim country imposes obstacle for Turkey's entrance to EU.
Mammadguliyev considers it as an argumentation of separate persons. The important fact is the official decision of EU to begin negotiations and the negotiations have been continuing for almost a year.
Naturally Turkey should take large measures in the economical and democratization plan of the country to fulfill the requirements presented by EU. And everything will depend on how Turkey will meet European standards in the future, the diplomat underlined.
