I hope that my meeting with the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will serve to conduct legal reforms with regards to mass media, the OSCE Commissioner for Freedom of Speech, Miklosh Harashti stated on 9 October after meeting with the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov.
He stressed that he arrived in Azerbaijan at the invitation of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and has already held meetings with the representatives of several mass media.
Harashti added that during his visit he was unable to meet with the arrested journalist Sakit Zahidov, but is interested in his case, and would discuss the re-transmission of the BBC program and Voice of America.
