Society Materials 24 June 2008 17:53 (UTC +04:00)

Azerbaijan, Sheki, 24 June /corr. Trend S.Fataliyev / As a result of abundant rain in the north-west region of Azerbaijan, a problem appeared in supplying drinkable water in the city of Sheki over the last days. Population has not been supplied with water for already two days. Bayram Mammadov, the Director of OSC Sheki Su Kanal, told Trend on 24 June that fall out of abundant rains led to strong pollution in Kish River in Sheki.

According to him, it is impossible to clean up the river in Sheki within a short period because the capacity of the water clean-up station built in 1960 is very low. As a result of expiration of the exploitation term of the pipes large water loss takes place in other four cities as well. Today the water supply to Sheki will be re-established.
