Azerbaijani honored figure of physical culture and sport died (PHOTO)

This morning, a 77-year-old Azerbaijani Honored Figure of Physical Culture and Sport, vice president of the Gymnastics Federation, head of gymnastics platform, professor Narimanov Bahram died after a long illness.

Professor Narimanov liked to live. He devoted his life to his favorite cause - the development of acrobatics. He always smiled. He was humorous and at the same time serious. He could suggest, find the words, which were listened to and convinced.  

We all will miss this bright man, a wise interlocutor and an excellent expert of his favorite cause.

Professor Narimanov was born in Baku May 6, 1934.

He graduated from the Azerbaijani State Institute of Physical Culture in 1957. He started his career with teaching at the platform "Gymnastics and its methodology". He became a senior lecturer in 1962 and he headed the platform in 1973.

Professor Narimanov served as chairman of Trade Unions of the Azerbaijani State Institute of Physical Culture (1973-1981). He was dean of the Faculty of Education.

Since 1957, professor Narimanov has engaged in scientific work. He defended his dissertation in Moscow and received a Ph.D. in 1981. He became an assistant professor in 1984.

He was a member of the scientific-methodological and substantive committees of the Committee of Physical Culture and Sports under the Cabinet of Ministers of the USSR from 1979 to 1987. He is the author of over 80 scientific publications, including learning and teaching manuals for gymnastics.

Narimanov was awarded with the title of professor for scientific and social activity of the Higher Attestation Commission under the Azerbaijani President in 1995.

For the first time in the history of Azerbaijani sport, he was awarded with the title of master of sports on sport acrobatics (1958) and honored master of sports of the USSR (1962). He was also awarded at the Sports day of Soviet Trade Unions (1957) and national championship (1958).

Narimanov was repeated champion of All-Union Central Council of the sports club "Oilman" and had 16 championship awards of the Azerbaijani Republic (1952-1968).

He held the position of head coach of Azerbaijani team and trained a lot of masters of sports of the USSR, Azerbaijani champions, winners of championships of the USSR from 1959-1972.

He was awarded with the title of Honored Coach of the Azerbaijan Republic in 1962. he was also awarded with the honorary title of excellent representative of Physical Culture and Sports of the USSR in 1964.

Narimanov headed the Federation of Sports Acrobatics of Azerbaijan, and until the last days of his life served as vice president of the Gymnastics Federation from 1960 to 1972 and from 1994 to 2000.

He was a member of the Federation of Acrobatics of the USSR from 1961 to 1990. Taking into account his enormous contribution to the world acrobatics, the International Federation of Sports Acrobatics awarded him with a medal and a diploma in 1993.

Narimanov was a judge of the country's (1973) and international (1994) categories, as well as a member of the Olympic Academy of the Azerbaijan Republic.

Professor Narimanov studied and prepared speeches for the gymnastics competitions held in Azerbaijan. He was awarded with a title of Azerbaijani Honorary Figure on Physical Culture and Sport in 1991.

Narimanov was awarded with Shokhrat order and the Presidential pension for his contributions to the development of sport and physical culture in Azerbaijan upon the President's decree.

Narimanov was a veteran of labor and sports and prominent representative of intellectuals of XXI century.
