The meeting of Education Ministers of the Council of Cooperation of Turkic-speaking states will be held, Secretary General of the Council Halil Akinci said at a meeting with the Minister of Education of Azerbaijan Misir Mardanov, the official website of the Ministry said on Wednesday.

Akinci, who believes that cooperation in the field of education is very important, spoke about a common language and alphabet of the Turkic peoples. He said the preparation of uniform textbooks is very important. Secretary-General emphasized the possibility of achieving consensus on these topics.

Cooperation in education should be deepened for the convergence of the Turkic peoples, Misir Mardanov said.

Mardanov inform about the development of relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan in all spheres, including in education. He noted that currently there are more than four thousand Azerbaijani students studying in a number of influential universities in Turkey and more than three thousand Turkish students is studying in Azerbaijan universities by different specialties. The Minister of Education described it as a sign of fraternity between the two countries.

The minister, who highly appreciates the activity of Azerbaijani-Turkish lyceums and Caucasus University in Azerbaijan, drew attention to the subject of joint textbooks for more efficient cooperation in the field of education. He said it is necessary to conduct the negotiations between the two countries' experts in this direction.
