Kazakh ombudsman: Azerbaijan's success obvious

Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 26

By Matanat Nasibova - Trend:

Azerbaijan's success is obvious and economic indicators confirm the progress made by the country, Kazakhstan's Human Rights Ombudsman Askar Shakirov told Trend at the Baku Forum on Sustainable Development, which was held as part of the VI Baku International Humanitarian Forum on Oct. 26.

"The significance of the Baku Forum cannot be overestimated, since the Sustainable Development Goals are a global program of worldwide scope. Now it has already acquired legal forms and is one of the indicators of a state's development," Shakirov said.

Shakirov stressed that holding such a powerful forum in Baku is a landmark event.

"Azerbaijan's success and progress are obvious, and even a quick look at Baku, as well as economic indicators confirm this, which is very impressive," Shakirov added.

Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan very effectively use their advantages, and first of all the hydrocarbon resources and geographical location.

"There is stability in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. It contributes to the improvement of welfare and sustainable development, therefore, in this sense, our countries are very similar. Kazakhstan has already achieved certain sustainable development goals thanks to the implementation of state programs with the direct initiative of President Nursultan Nazarbayev," the ombudsman said.

The VI International Humanitarian Forum the theme of which is “Shaping a New World and a New Humanity: Creativity and Human Development”, began its work in Baku on Oct. 25. More than 580 people including 416 foreign guests from 86 countries and 24 international organizations, participate in this two-day forum.
