KHANKENDI, Azerbaijan, September 27. An event dedicated to Remembrance Day has been held at Secondary School No. 4 under the Karabakh Regional Education Department in Khankendi, Trend reports.
The event, attended by the school’s teaching staff, families of martyrs, and students, began with the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, followed by a minute of silence to honor the memory of the martyrs.
The school’s principal, Jamila Ahmadova, spoke about the significance of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev’s decree regarding September 27 as Remembrance Day.
She emphasized that, as a result of the reforms in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and the continuous efforts of the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Ilham Aliyev, in military development, the occupation of Azerbaijani lands came to an end.
"The whole world witnessed Azerbaijan’s glorious victory in the Second Karabakh War," she added.
Other speakers also highlighted the heroic deeds of the country’s sons during the war and the glorious victory.
The students recited patriotic poems, and musical performances were held during the event.
According to the decree of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated December 2, 2020, Azerbaijan annually celebrates Remembrance Day on September 27 as a sign of deep respect for Azerbaijani soldiers and officers who heroically fought in the 44-day Second Karabakh War and gave their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
