The threat of fires due to the dry weather in the country grew in the forests of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan (MENR) told Trend.
In this regard the relevant bodies of the Ministry issued instructions for extending the mineralized belts against fires in the dangerous areas. The fire broke out on 17 December 2005 on the area of the Lerik enterprise for protection and restoration of forests and at the result of the urgent works it was liquidated without considerable damages to the Talish forests.
MENR urges the population to keep the safety measures.
