Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Zarbaliyeva / An imprisoned employee of Azerbaijan's newspaper Nota Bene, Faramaz Allahverdiyev (Novruzoghlu), will have a medical check-up this week.
The physical condition of Novruzoghlu, who was transferred to the patient care institution of the Penitentiary Service of the Azerbaijani Justice Ministry on 26 August, cannot be assessed before a thorough medical check-up, a source at the patient care institution reported to Trend on 27 August.
Medical treatment will be determined on the basis of the diagnosis, according to a physician at the institution, Rashad Damirov.
Novruzoghlu was charged with contravening Articles 147 (slander, assault) at the decision of Narimanov District Court of Baku on 30 January 2007 due to a lawsuit brought by the Azerbaijani Internal Minister, Ramil Usubov, and Nazim Ibrahimov, the chairman of the State Committee on Work with Azerbaijanis Residing Abroad. The Azerbaijani Appeal Court upheld the decision.
