Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Javadova / The trial of the former Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister, Farhad Aliyev, his brother Rafig Aliyev, former president of Azpetrol group of companies, and 17other defendants continued on 3 September at the Court on Serious Crimes presided by Judge Tofig Pashayev. The former Minister's attorney Elton Guliyev petitioned for the questioning of additional witnesses in court.
Judge Tofig Pashayev informed the attorney that the request would be considered in the second half of the day. Later, another attorney Yunis Valiyev also submitted a petition. He asked that Mirhabib Muradov, who was interrogated at the trial as a witness, be sent to a psychological expertise.
Notably, Muradov, an entrepreneur from Azerbaijan's Jalilabad region, said in his testimony that in order to receive a credit he had to spend a total of $47,850. However, the attorney stated that the sum was not adequate to receive a credit; therefore there is a need in Muradov to go for a psychological expertise. The trial is in progress.
