Azerbaijan's wheat imports down

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 27. Azerbaijan imported 949,270 tons of wheat from January through October 2023, which is 0.73 percent (6,990 tons) less year-on-year, Trend reports.

The data of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan shows that wheat imports exceeded $247.3 million in value terms (25.05 percent or $82.6 million decrease over year).

The share of wheat import amounted to 1.75 percent of Azerbaijan's total import from January through October 2023.

Azerbaijan's imports of food products decreased in value terms by 2.84 percent ($52.2 million) and amounted to $1.7 billion from January through October 2023.

In addition, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover decreased by 6 percent or $2.7 billion from January through October 2023 year-on-year - from $46.2 billion to $43.5 billion.

In the structure of foreign trade turnover, exports accounted for $29.3 billion, down $5.3 billion or 15.46 percent over year. The share of exports in the foreign trade turnover amounted to 67.43 percent against 74.97 percent a year earlier.

Azerbaijan's imports increased by $2.5 billion or 22.32 percent from January through October 2023 from $11.5 billion to about $14.1 billion year-on-year. The share of imports in the foreign trade turnover amounted to 32.57 percent against 25.03 percent a year earlier.

As a result, the foreign trade balance declined by over $7.9 billion or 34.39 percent from January through October 2023 to $15.1 billion from $23.1 billion year-on-year.
