AGHDAM, Azerbaijan, September 20. More than 400 jobs have been generated at the Aghdam Industrial Park, Spokesman of Azerbaijan's Economic Zones Development Agency Elchin Kazimov told Trend.

"We are witnessing the implementation of one of the most significant events in the history of Azerbaijan. Thus, the head of state has participated in the inauguration of six industrial enterprises at the Aghdam Industrial Park.

The newly opened enterprises will be engaged in the production of electrical distribution equipment and electrical sockets in the industrial park; roofing and facade coverings; ventilation, fire-fighting equipment, and various metal products; wallpaper; various shoes; automation and telemechanics systems," he explained.

Kazimov pointed out that the launch of the above-mentioned enterprises has brought the total number of enterprises operating in the industrial zones of Azerbaijan to 79.

“The launch of new enterprises will give impetus to the development of the non-oil sector in Azerbaijan, expand the geography of the country’s exports, accelerate the diversification of the economy, make an important contribution to increasing employment, and will contribute to Karabakh's revival.

The new enterprises invested over 35 million manat ($20.6 million) in the Aghdam Industrial Park, creating more than 400 permanent jobs. In the hiring process, preference was given mainly to the population of Aghdam and surrounding districts.

The park, the second largest in terms of residency after Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park in Azerbaijan, has granted residency to 27 business entities with investments exceeding 238 million manat ($140 million), and six additional entrepreneurs hold non-resident status. These 33 business entities are expected to create 2,090 jobs. In total, these 33 business entities plan to create 2,045 jobs in the park,” he added.
