WB, EBRD Set up Researches into Business environment in Georgia

Georgia, Tbilisi, 15 May / corr Trend N.Kirtzkhalia / Group of the World Bank in Georgia began the fourth round of researches into the activities of business environment and enterprises, the World Bank reported.

Construction facts of research appear joint initiative of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the World Bank. This year the International Finance Corporation for the first time joined this initiative. Data provided on whole region enable the corporation to monitor changes occurring in business environment and evaluate the impact on business regulation.

The key objective of the research appears as collection of entrepreneurs' opinions about situation in the private sector of different countries. As a result of inquiry among 360 companies involved in the service and production sectors, factors impeding the development of business sector will be estimated.

The World Bank carries out similar researches in many countries of the world. Questionnaire contains questions such as introduction of technologies and innovations, competition, qualification of the employed, informal aspects, infrastructure and influence of state regulation.

Inquiry began in April 2008 and preliminary data will be announced in September 2008. Results of researches taken together with additional data will serve as basis for recommendations for the Government, targeting to assist in attracting investments, increasing productivity and the economic growth.
