In January - March of 2009, inflation rate in Kazakhstan was 2 % by December, 2008. The Minister of Economy and Budgetary Planning of Kazakhstan, Bahyt Sultanov, informed at the government session today, Kazakhstan Today reported.
"In January - March 2009, inflation rate was 2 % by December, 2008. In annual expression, the inflation rate in March 2009 by the corresponding month of 2008 has been 8.9 %," B. Sultanov informed.
"As a result of devaluation of tenge, the prices increased on non-food goods, which are mainly imported. The prices for articles of food have increased in February by 0.2 % and in March - by 0.6 %," he specified.
As a whole, in B. Sultanov's opinion, the effect of devaluation of tenge on growth of inflationary processes has been insignificant.
