The Uzbek Cabinet of Ministers has introduced from Feb.1 a ban on the import and sale of goods through multi-level marketing by individuals who are not entrepreneurship entities.

According to the decision, the ban also applies to offices of foreign commercial organizations.

In accordance with the document, the text of which was published on Monday in e-mass media outlets, the sale through multi-level marketing of bioactive additives, pharmaceuticals and medical products is also prohibited.

From now on, the sale by multilevel marketing organizations of goods to sales agents should be carried out by non-cash payments on the basis of a contract. Multi-level marketing organizations should have a license to carry out wholesale sales.

The government has instructed the relevant departments to intensify efforts to detect and eradicate the illicit supply of goods to Uzbekistan in the form of multi-level marketing.

Within one month, the government must also approve a package of measures to promote among the population, primarily young people, the negative consequences associated with the illegal implementation of the multi-level marketing activity aimed at creating financial pyramids.
