Kazakhstan increased cargo turnover by 19.4 percent in January 2012 compared to the figure of January 2011. The total amount of cargo transshipped in Kazakhstan during this period hit 37.879 billion tons per kilometer, Novosti Kazakhstan quotes Kazakh Statistics Agency as reporting.
According to the agency, transshipment via railways increased by 13.7 percent, by vehicles- by 56.6 percent, and via pipelines- by 4.3 percent.
The total volume of cargo transshipped hit 228.657 million tons in Kazakhstan in January 2012 (20 percent more than the same period of 2011).
Meanwhile, the total amount of passenger traffic increased by 25 percent in January 2012 compared to same period of 2011 to 1.475 billion.
