Azerbaijan, Baku, July 6 / Trend A.Hasanov /
Banks wishing to become shareholders of the first credit bureau in Azerbaijan will have until July 31 to give notice to the International Finance Corporation (IFC) on signing a memorandum of understanding, IFC official Teymur Heybatov told Trend on Friday.
"We understand that for the signing of this memorandum it's necessary obtain the consent of the supervisory board or the shareholders' meeting, so given all that we have offered banks by the end of the month to send us a notice," Heybatov said.
He said that after receiving the notice, IFC will prepare the appropriate contract and send them to the signing of the banks who have expressed a desire to become shareholders of the credit bureau.
Touching on the issue of attracting technical partner, Heybatov said first it's necessary to discuss several issues with the banks, and then the IFC will prepare a request for technical partners (document with the technical requirements), which will then be sent to the banks - shareholders.
On July 5, a round table was held for potential shareholders of a credit bureau, where the main task was to sign a memorandum of understanding. The meeting was attended by 10 banks, which very positively evaluated the idea of establishing a credit bureau.
Since 2005, a centralised credit register has been operating under the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
