Industrial production index decreases in Turkey

The industrial production index (IPI) in Turkey decreased by 5.7 percent in October 2012 and hit 109 points compared to the same month in 2011, the Turkish Statistics Institute said in a report posted on its website on Monday.

In October, the IPI increased by 2.6 percent compared to the previous month.

The IPI in mining operations in Turkey increased by 3.9 per cent in October, while in processing industry decreased by 5.9 per cent and in production and distribution - by 5.1 percent.

The highest rate of the index was observed in energy sector. In October, it increased by 6.2 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
