Persons aged 20-24 years are the most unemployed group in Iran with the unemployment rate of 29.8 percent, IRNA reported, citing data released by the Statistical Center of Iran.

Some 24.8 percent of men and 48.5 percent of women in the mentioned age group are jobless, according to the report.

Iran's unemployment rate stood at 12.4 percent, showing 1.3 percent fall compared to summer last year, the Mehr News Agency reported.

According to the report, 68.3 percent of men and 15.4 percent of women of above 15 years of age in Iran were employed during summer.

Due to the expansion of agricultural and building activities in summer, the unemployment rate usually falls in summer each year, the statistical center's director Adel Azar said in October.

Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare Minister Abdolreza Sheikholeslami has said that the unemployment rate is planned to be cut to seven percent by the end of the fifth socio-economic development plan (March 2016.)
