Cargo turnover increased by 7 percent in Kazakhstan to 475.278 billion ton-kilometers in January-December 2012 compared to the same period of 2011, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported with the reference to the Kazakh Statistics Agency.
According to the agency, cargo transshipment via railways in the reporting period increased by 6 percent, by vehicles - by 9.3 percent and via pipelines - by 7 percent.
The total volume of cargo transshipped in the reporting period hit 3.222 billion tons (8.7 percent increase).
Meanwhile, the passenger traffic increased by 11.1 percent to 18.484 billion in Kazakhstan in 2012. Passenger traffic via railways increased by 21.3 percent, by vehicles - by 11.1 percent, via pipelines - by 10.9 percent.
