Prices on sunflower oil decreased by more than 10 percent within 10 months of 2017 in Kazakhstan.
Production level of unrefined sunflower oil increased by 2 percent during 10 months of 2017, production of refined oil, in turn, decreased by 3 percent, Kazakh Energy Prom reported.
Kazakh food oil companies produced 97,400 tons of unrefined sunflower oil (1.7 percent more than in the same period of previous year), and 101,000 tons of refined oil (2.9 percent less compared to the mentioned period).
The East Kazakhstan region leads in production of unrefined sunflower oil (79.000 tons in 10 months of 2017, 12.6 percent more compared to the same period of 2016). Kostanay region ranks second (11,300 tons, 6.7 percent more than in 2016) and Aktobe region ranks third among the food oil producers of Kazakhstan (2,300 tons, which is 71.1 less year-to-year).
The executive body of the East Kazakhstan region has already proposed the Chinese CITIC Construction company to build a plant for the production of sunflower oil in the region. The project will involve Chinese investments with further export of food oil to China.
