Azerbaijan may adopt a new “Law on Standardization.”
The draft of the new law was discussed Feb. 14 at a meeting of Azerbaijan’s parliamentary committee on economic policy, industry and entrepreneurship.
The new law consists of six sections and 27 articles. The law defines the goals and principles of standardization, the preparation, adoption and application of normative documents in the field of standardization, sources of financing standardization activities and other issues.
Under the document, the work planning on preparation of state standards will be carried out on the basis of a three-year national standardization program, which should be formed, approved and published by the national standardization body.
The draft reads that state standards will be marked with the 'AZS' sign.
The law, if adopted at the plenary session of the Azerbaijani Parliament, will enter into force 90 days after the publication.
