Uzbek companies have agreed on export of agro products, especially melons, for the total amount of $5 million as part of the international exhibition Fruit Logistica 2018 held in Berlin, Uzbek media reported.
Representatives of the Uzbek delegation held meetings with importing companies from Germany, France, Holland, Hungary, Italy, Turkey and other countries. The agreements were reached on the supply of Uzbek melons, herbs, as well as a wide range of dried fruits.
"As part of this fair, we have also concluded relevant export agreements for the supply of fresh and processed fruit and vegetable products to African countries, " Behruzkhon Saidullayev, a representative of UzTrade at the Foreign Trade Ministry of Uzbekistan, told media.
Furthermore, the Uzbek side and representatives of manufacturing companies from several European countries discussed the establishment of business cooperation and implementation of investment projects in the production and processing of fruits and vegetables.
At the fair, Hungary's Golden General Ltd voiced interest in supply of Uzbek agricultural products, including sweet melons, pomegranates and nuts, to the Hungarian market.
In addition, Uzbek media reported that South Korea is ready to resume imports of Uzbek melons. Earlier, Uzbekistan actively supplied melons to the South Korean market. However, after the reveal of a fruit fly South Korea imposed a ban on import of Uzbek melons.
Last year, UzTrade company for the first time in the history of Uzbekistan exported fresh melons to the American market.
Uzbekistan annually produces more than 18 million tons of various fruits. In this regard, Uzbekistan is keen on creating more favorable conditions for the organization of direct supplies and access of agricultural products to world markets.
