Food production in the North Kazakhstan region amounted to more than 70 billion tenge for eight months of this year, which is an increase of 14 percent, the region’s governor Kumar Aksakalov said, according to Kazakh media.

He noted that the development of the agro-industrial complex and support of agricultural producers are a priority for the region. The governor said the North Kazakhstan region receives up to 40 billion tenge of subsidies every year, and local farmers diversify fields and apply digitization within their activity.

This year, seven projects for the construction of dairy complexes totaling 8 billion tenge are implemented in the region. When the projects reach full capacity, the additional milk production will be 17,000 tons per year, Aksakalov said.

Moreover, two feedlots with a capacity of 4,000 animals will be built in the North Kazakhstan region. This will give an additional annual production of about 1,000 tons of dressed weight meat.

Currently of the EMC-Agro LLP pig farm resumes its work in the region and a poultry meat farm is being built. In a few days, a plant for the production of gluten, starch and bioethanol will be launched. The processing capacity of the plant will reach 82,000 tons per year.

Aksakalov also noted that the North Kazakhstan region intends to increase exports of agricultural products – it can export grains and oilseeds, flour and dairy products.

It is worth noting that almost three-quarters of the industry of North Kazakhstan region falls on the processing sector, where the food industry occupies the most part. The economic development of the region is based on the transition to intensive industrial production both in crop and livestock production.

In the agriculture of the North Kazakhstan region, crop production remains a key area. Every year the region produces a significant part of the total grain production volume of Kazakhstan.

Moreover, favorable geographical location, high density of roads and railways give the region a high transit potential.
