Economic activists should not be left behind the minister`s door room for more than 48 hours in Iran, the proposed economy minister in a cabinet reshuffle, Farhad Dejpasand, said at a meeting of members of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce with three proposed ministers on Tuesday.

“It is bad for Iran that after four decades, despite all these resources in the country, there is a lower per capita income. One of its main reasons is preference of development of quarrels rather than the development of the country, so that we always seek to lag each other,” Dejpasand said.

“In the case of fluctuation and efforts to reach economic stability, the government should play a secondary role and government intervention should be limited,” he said.

“The Iranian economy, given its reliance on oil, has a different government size from the rest of the world, while the government only needs to enter into governance issues and should not be involved unless it is necessary,” Dejpasand believes.

He then spoke about creating a Dialogue Council.

"One of my plans is to play a role in efficiency of the public and private sector dialogue councils, and in this regard, the private sector must open its doors,” he said.

In the past, the basis of affairs in the country was on three axes of the government, two other powers (Parliament and judiciary) and the private sector, but I believe that today the fourth pillar of universities should be added, Dejpasand said.

Referring to the state dependence on oil, he said that the use of oil should be considered as a borrowing.

“We must have ways to raise taxes so that there is no pressure on the society that the private sector can help in this regard,” he said.

“The more stable the private sector is, the more it earns and the government gets more through taxes,” he said. “To fill the shortcomings, we need to have private sector's advises.”

Referring to the banking system of Iran, he said that Iranian banks have found a disorderly structure, and the country's banking industry is far from modern banking.

"The reform of the banking system, needs some kind of ground, for example, validation should be done correctly and delays should be reduced, so that the banking system can meet the financial needs of the private sector," he said.
