Railway network in Turkey's Gaziantep to be ready in 2019

The construction of a new railway network (Gaziray), which will connect a number of districts in Turkey's Gaziantep Province, will be completed in 2019, a source in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend on Oct. 24.

It was earlier expected that the construction of the railway network would be completed by end 2018.

The source did not reveal the reasons for the postponement of the network's completion date.

The source noted that the length of the railway network will be 25 kilometers.

"The project also includes building 17 stations, one bridge, eight underground and six above-ground crossings," the source said.

The source also noted that the total cost of the project is 1.1 billion Turkish liras.

Previously, it was reported that investments worth 10.8 billion Turkish liras will be put in the development of railway infrastructure of Turkey in 2018.

Presently, work is underway to implement 50 transport and communication projects in Turkey.
