Iran’s Golestan Province exports up by 55%

During the 10 months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), there was a 55-percent increase in the export rates of Iran’s north-eastern Golestan Province, compared to the same period last year, said Hosseingholi Ghovanlu, head of Golestan Province Industry, Mine and Trade Organization, Trend reports referring to Shata News Agency.

According to Ghovanlu, 321,000 tons of products worth more than $221 million were exported through Golestan’s customs in 10 months.

Ghovanlu added that these figures for the same period last year stood at 185,000 tons worth $144 million.

"Exports via informal cross border trade rose by 31 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching $4.5 million," he said.

Ghovanlu said that exports from Iran's Golestan Province to Iraq increased by 11 percent to $78 million in 10 months, with exports to Turkmenistan increasing by 77 percent to $77 million, to Afghanistan by 159 percent to $23 million, to Kazakhstan by 150 percent to $16 million and to Bulgaria by 1,177 percent to $8 million.

"The Golestan Province exported products to 30 countries this year. The Philippines, Oman and Syria are among the new export targets of the province," he said.

Speaking about the main export products of the province, Ghovanlu highlighted that $43 million were made from cheese exports during the aforementioned period, with $30 million made from exports of steel pipes, $17 million from polystyrene, $13 million from iron pipe, $12 million from tomato, $12 million from bird feed and $9.5 million from other dairy products.

Ghovanlu said that 58,200 tons of products worth $26 million were imported through Golestan Province customs.
