GM Uzbekistan and SaryarkaAvtoProm LLP agreed to produce 16,000 cars by the end of 2019, Trend reports via Uzbek media.
The contract between the automakers of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan was signed on March 15 in Tashkent as part of the first Central Asian Economic Forum.
The jointly produced cars will be sold on the domestic markets of the two countries, and will be exported, in particular to the Russian market.
The intention of the parties to organize joint production was announced in 2016. The plan was to create a joint venture at the facilities of SaryarkaAvtoProm, specializing in the production of components and spare parts, as well as the possibility to organize the production of certain car models that will be in demand in the Uzbek and Kazakh markets.
The agreement on the organization of a joint auto industry was signed in March 2017 as part of the state visit of the Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kazakhstan.
At the same time, the Kazakh automaker announced an agreement with GM Uzbekistan on the assembly of Ravon Nexia R3 sedans in Kostanay. At first, it was planned to produce 3,000 cars a year using the large-block assembly technology, further increasing production volumes to 7,000 vehicles of various configurations.
In early 2018, Allure Group of Companies and Uzavtosanoat JSC signed a memorandum on joint production of MAN trucks and buses at the Saryarka AvtoProm plant. The production of such technology started in April.
The company "SaryarkaAvtoProm" is one of the largest city-forming enterprises of Kostanay, Kazakhstan. The company produces cars of brands JAC, Peugeot, IVECO, ANKAI, Hyundai, Ravon, Chevrolet Niva.
GM Uzbekistan is engaged in the production of passenger cars at three sites: at the main plant in Asaka district of Andijan region, as well as in the branches in Pitnak, Khorezm region and in Tashkent. The company produces 10 car models under the Chevrolet and Ravon brands.
