Kazakhstan's largest copper producer increases output

The value of copper production by KAZ Minerals group of companies in Kazakhstan amounted to 311,400 tons of cooper, which is six percent more than in 2018 and also exceeds the planned volume of 300,000 tons, Trend reports with reference to the company’s report.

Gold production increased by 10 percent in a year and amounted to 201,500 ounces.

Copper ore extraction increased by 32 percent at Aktogay mine amounting to 55.3 million tons. Copper from sulfide ore production amounted to 123,000 tons, which is 16 percent more than in 2018. Cathode copper from oxide ore production amounted to 22,700 tons in 2019 which is 12 percent less than in 2018 but more the than the planned 20,000 tons.

The record breaking volume of copper production was reached at Aktogay mine in the volume of 145,700 tons, which is 11 percent more than in 2018 and more than the annual plan of 130,000-140,000 tons.

Copper extraction at Bozshakol mine amounted to 35.6 million tons. The cooper production amounted to 110,200 tons in 2019 meets the planned volume of 105,000-115,000 tons and is eight percent more than in 2018.

Gold production at Bozshakol mine amounted to 144,800 ounces, which is 13 percent more than in 2018 and is more than planned 130,000-140,000 ounces. Silver production was 803,000 which also is more than the planned 700,000 ounces and is 21 percent more than in 2018.

Copper ore extraction at East Region and Bozymchak mines amounted to 3.8 million tons, which equals extraction volume last year. Annual copper production at the mine was 55,500 tons which meets the annual plan and is 10 percent less than in 2018.

Annual gold production at the field was 53,700 ounces which is more than the planned 40,000-45,000 ounces.

Silver production volume was 2.02 million ounces which is more than the planned 1.8 million ounces.

Annual zinc production was 38,300 tons and is less than the planned 40,000-45,000 tons.

KAZ Minerals is the largest copper producer in Kazakhstan, focused on the mining of copper and the development of new copper mining projects in Kazakhstan and Russia.
