Kazakhstan's Samruk Kazyna reveals revenue from privatization deals

Kazakhstan’s Samruk Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund sold a total of its 84 assets worth 172 billion tenge ($426.08 million) since the beginning of assets privatization process in 2016, Trend reports with reference to the fund.

The report said that another 53 assets of the fund were either liquidated or reorganized.

Currently, 9 large assets of the fund and 21 medium-sized assets are involved in the privatization plan.

Furthermore, at the beginning of June 2020, Samruk-Kazyna completed the process of Kazatomprom’s additional placement of shares and global depository receipts.

The results of placements said that the demand for shares from investors exceeded the offer by 2.9 times.

Thus, a 6.28 percent stake worth $211 million in Kazatomprom was sold. A total of $69.7 million of applications were received at the Astana International Finance Center stock exchange, some 53.4 percent of which accounted for Kazakh investors and 46.6 percent for foreign investors.

The Comprehensive Privatization Plan for 2016-2020 was introduced by a Decree of Kazakhstan’s Government dated Dec. 30, 2015 and included 167 Samruk Kazyna assets.

Samruk-Kazyna JSC Group includes enterprises operating in a number of industries – oil, transport and logistics, chemical and nuclear, mining and smelting,energy, mechanical engineering and real estate.
