Exports through customs of Iran's East Azerbaijan province grow

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 27

Products worth $710 million were exported to 79 countries through the customs of the East Azerbaijan Province in the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 20 - June 20, 2020), Customs Inspector of East Azerbaijan and Director General of Tabriz Customs Administration Leyli Orangi said, Trend reports citing Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

The inspector stressed that the weight of exported products exceeded 417,000 tons.

According to her, 173,000 tons of products worth $298 million were exported in the third month (May 21 - June 20, 2020) alone, and this is 1.26 times more than in the first month (March 20 - April 19, 2020).

“The products were mainly exported to Turkey, Iraq, Georgia, Azerbaijan, China, Afghanistan, Italy, Bulgaria and Pakistan,” she said.

Orangi added that 26,000 tons of products worth more than $64 million were imported through the customs of the East Azerbaijan Province during the third month.

"The import decreased by 17 percent in terms of weight compared to the first month, and increased by 59 percent in terms of value," she said.

The director general emphasized that the products were mainly imported from Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, China, Georgia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Austria and Spain.

Orangi noted that the value of the province's customs revenues for the three months stood at 952 billion rials (about $22.6 million), which is a 21-percent decrease compared to the same period last Iranian year.
