The development of beekeeping in Fars Province (southern Iran) is one of the main goals for the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020), Deputy Director of the Agriculture Department in Fars Province Karamatollah Kiyoumarsi told Trend.
According to Kiyoumarsi, at present, Fars Province produces 10,500 tons of honey a year.
Kiyoumarsi added that more than 7,500 people work in beekeeping sector in the province.
The official said that there are 1.13 million beehives in Fars Province, and 14 cooperative companies in the beekeeping sector in the Fars Province, he said.
In addition to honey, many beekeeping products are produced in the Fars Province.
Iran's Fars Province produces about 10 percent of Iran's agricultural products.
