Kazakhstan-based ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC is considering the possibility of redistributing export potential to alternative sales markets in order to ensure the stabilization of production and continuous sale of manufactured products, Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Dinara Shcheglova said, Trend reports citing Kazakh media.
In her words, ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC is not expecting a decrease in export volumes to the usual countries of export in the nearest future. Over the period of the first 10 months of 2020, steel export to Russia exceeded 1 million tons, whereas the overall 2020 plan is 1.3 million tons.
In turn, the SSGPO JSC, which operates Sokolovsky, Sarbaisky, Kachar, and Kurzhunkul open-pit mines, Alekseevsky dolomite mine, has produced 13,277 tons of iron ore in 2019, including 8,477 which were exported to Russia.
Nearly 11,000 tons of iron ore raw materials were produced over 10 months of 2020. More than 6,000 tons of iron ore raw materials were exported to Russia, which is 13.4 percent less than during the same period in 2019.
“Decrease in export volume is due to the temporary shutdown of the furnace at Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant PJSC and due to a decrease in the volume of purchases from Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant PJSC, as well as a decrease in output of ArcelorMittal Temirtau,” Shcheglova said.
“Thus, SSGPO JSC exported 4,102 tons of product to China, which is 2.1 times more than during the same period in 2019. In addition, another 1,100 tons are to be shipped before the end of this year,” she said.
Furthermore, talking activities of Kazakh KSP Steel company, Shcheglova said that at the moment the company is working on launching export of seamless pipes both to Russia and to other countries.
