Iran continues subsidizing various agricultural inputs including fertilizers

TEHRAN, Iran, Aug. 24

Trend:

Iranian government provided sufficient reserves of subsidized fertilizers on the verge of autumn cultivation season, said Hamid Rasouli, managing director of Agriculture Support Services Company, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Since the beginning of the current Iranian year (started on March 21), the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad has finalized the contracts for the supply of various agricultural inputs, including fertilizers, despite financial, currency, and administrative restrictions, amid Covid-19.

According to the schedule, he says that 450,000 tons of phosphate and potash fertilizers have been provided.

Rasouli noted that the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad obliged the Agricultural Support Services Company to provide 2.5 million tons of subsidized fertilizers, of which 100 percent of the promised fertilizers have been provided in recent months.

So far, more than 60 percent of the plan, equivalent to more than 1.5 million tons of fertilizers, has been delivered to the company, he said.

He went on to say that this amount of reserves is unprecedented in recent years.

Rasouli stated that the share of domestic producers in the supply of subsidized fertilizers is more than 90 percent and the share of imports is less than 10 percent.

According to statistics, 1.992 million tons of urea fertilizer was distributed by the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad last year.
