BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 26. Petropavlovsk airport will be put up for an auction for the third time, Akim (Head) of the North Kazakhstan region Kumar Aksakalov said, Trend reports citing Kazakh media.

He noted that during the second auction, the starting price was two times lower and the price will be the same during the third auction (5.6 billion tenge or $13.05 million).

Aksakalov noted that annually up to 200 million tenge ($466,200) of the budget funds is spent on the airport's maintenance.

“The airport is operational. But the aviation security service keeps saying that there is a lot that needs to be done there. We need a tank farm to fly large planes in the evening, which will increase the traffic. This is possible with significant investment. There should be a large number of specialists working there. Unfortunately, we are not yet able to bear such costs," he said.
