BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 4. In total, about 2 million tons of rice are expected to be produced in Iran for the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), an official of Iranian Ministry of Agriculture Jihad Shaygan Adibi said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
Adibi said that so far, paddy has been planted in about 535,000 hectares of land in the country. Of this, 500,000 hectares are in the north provinces of Iran (Gilan, Mazandaran and Golestan).
The official also added that quality rice varieties - Fajr, Shiroudi, Neda, Anam, Gilaneh, etc. have been planted on 150,000 hectares of land.
Within the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), a total of 2.25 million tons of rice were produced in Iran.
