Water Level in Kur River to Increase

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / The Azerbaijani Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources forecasts an increase of the Kur River's water level. Although precipitation is not expected in Azerbaijan and neighbouring countries at the end of May, high temperature will cause melting of snow in the mountains.

The water level in the Kur during the mentioned period will exceed its ten-day norm, the Ministry quoted Georgian Hydrometeorology Organization.

Water discharge from the Kur to Shemkir Water Reservoir will flow at 750-950cm per second, (122% increase from its ten-day norm), from the Ganykh River to Mingachavir Water Reservoir 230-290cm per second, (130% increase from its ten-day norm), from the Araz River to the Araz Water Reservoir 350-450cm per second (119% increase from its ten-day norm).

Allegedly, the water level in the Guba-Khachmaz region rivers will exceed its ten-day norm by 5-35%, and in the Balakan-Shaki region by 30-50%.
