Azerbaijan, Baku, 5 April / Trend corr A. Badalova/ Azerbaijan's oil refining capacity has been remaining stable since 2004 - 399,000 barrels per 24 hours (19.8mln tons per year), according to the April report of the US state-run Energy Information Agency (EIA).

There are two oil refineries in Azerbaijan and they are run by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR). Annually, the refineries process some 6.5mln tons of oil which is produced in the fields developed through SOCAR's own funds. The oil products, including petrol, diesel fuel and fuel oil, are sold at the domestic market and are exported to Georgia, Iran and other countries.

This year the total oil refining capacity of the OECD countries (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) will comprise 45.388mln barrels of oil per 24 hours, which is by 0.3% less than in 2007. The percent of Azerbaijan's oil refining capacities in OECD countries will amount to 0.08% in 2008.
