Azerbaijan, Baku, 20 May / Trend / McDermott Caspian Contractors Inc. and its subsidiary J. Ray McDermott S.A. have completed the laying of the offshore pipeline in the field named after Yuri Korchagin, in line with a contract signed with Lukoil - Nijnevoljskneft, Lukoil's subsidiary, State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) said. The underwater pipeline was laid with the help of pipe-laying ship Israfil Huseynov- belonging to SOCAR and used by McDermott.
The divers of the Caspian Oil Fleet of SOCAR also took part in the laying of the pipeline.
The field is located 180km west of Astrakhan city, in the Russian sector of the Caspian. The offshore installation work is expected to be launched in May 2009.
12-inch pipeline with a length of 58km has been installed in 11 to 20 meters of depth. At present, the quality of the pipeline laying is being tested.
