Baku Hosts Negotiations Between Heads of Oil and Gas Departments from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 19 June / Trend / The President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) received the delegation from Turkmenistan headed by Bayram Muradov, Director of the State Agency to Use and Management Oil and Gas Resources under the Turkmenistan President, SOCAR reported.

The meeting was focused on the issue to hold the international conference 'Oil and gas potential in Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan: energy, economy and ecology. The cooperation strategy', which is planning to hold in Baku in September, as well the meaning of the conference to develop bilateral cooperation between the countries in the sphere of energy.

Recently, the President of Turkmenistan issued a decree to hold a conference in September and to create a Task Group, one of the members of which is Muradov.

The meeting was also attended by Khoshgaldi Babayev, the Deputy Foreign Affairs Ministry and Chairman of the State Enterprise in Caspian Affairs under the Turkmenistan President.

The day before the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev issued a decree to hold the international conference 'Oil and gas potential in Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan: energy, economy and ecology. The cooperation strategy' in Baku in September.

Under the decree, an Organizational Committee will be created to prepare and implement the conference. The committee will include Yagub Eyyubov, first Eputy Prime Minister, as well as the Industry and Energy, Ecology and Natural Resources Ministries, Deputy Foreign Minister, Deputy Finance Minister, Deputy Economic Development Minister and Deputy Transport Minister, will be created to prepare and hold the conference. Furthermore, the committee will unite the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Vice President of the Azerbaijani National Science Academy (NASA).

The committee is commissioned to work out a program of actions to hold the conference.

The decree is aimed to strengthen the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, as well as to increase efficiency to use the energy resources in the both countries taking into consideration the significance to carry out regional and international energy projects on the mutual beneficial grounds.
