Azerigaz plans to increase the country's gas supply from 85 to 93-95 percent by 2013, Azerigaz Deputy Head Nazim Samadzade said.

"The program has already been designed by the regional administrative bodies. We will begin implementing the project with concrete proposals," Samadzade said.

There are 1.165 million gas customers in Azerbaijan compared to 880,000 in early 2004. Gas supplies have increased from 64 to 85 percent.

About 287,000 customers were supplied with gas in the last 5 years.

"We plan to supply gas to a great deal of customers in 2009-2013," Samadzade said.

Azerigaz supplied 11.2 billion cubic meters of gas to customers in 2008.

The Azerigaz gas transport system supplies 52 million cubic meters of gas per day.

"We achieved this figure for the first time," he said.

Azerigaz received 11.205 billion cubic meters of gas from SOCAR in 2008, 2.027 billion cubic meters from Azeri-Chiraq-Gunashli and 2.337 billion cubic meters from Shah Deniz.
