Azerbaijan is prepared to establish long-term business contacts with Turkmen partners, said Rovnag Abdullayev, the Head of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), who was received by Turkmen Presidet, Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov.
The sides have examined the prospect of further strengthening interaction in the fuel and energy sector, and particularly in the oil sector.
On July 10, during an interview with the Altyn Asyr national TV channel, Abdullayev said the meeting had been constructive. The positions of the two Caspian countries' have become closer after launching a high-level dialogue, he said.
Abdullayev passed on regards from Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev, to Berdimuhammedov. "Azerbaijan fully supports Turkmenistan's initiatives, which serve to develop a mutually beneficial partnership in the area of global energy, and shares its approach to the solution of the global energy security issues," the businessman said.
Berdimuhammedov stressed Turkmenistan's commitment to friendly relations and fruitful cooperation with its neighbor, Azerbaijan.
"The current, rapidly developing Turkmen-Azerbaijani cooperation allows discussion on the great prospects of a bilateral partnership between the neighboring countries, who are focusing on diversifying the development of their economies' strategic sector - oil and gas - by applying the best global experience and modern science technology," the Turkmen president said.
The parties expressed their readiness to establish efficient interaction and their confidence that "these efforts will serve the two countries' national interests, welfare and prosperity".
