Ecology Department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) conducted monitoring on offshore sites of the Complex Drilling Operations Trust on the fields "Bulla-Deniz", "Alat-Deniz" and "8 March", the Department said today.
Monitoring was held to determine compliance with the legislation organization of the protection of the environment during the drilling, environmental impact evaluation, ensuring environmental safety of technological machineries that are used during drilling operations, etc.
As is known, solutions that are used during drilling, and some of their elements have a negative impact on the environment and marine organisms. To determine the parameters of impact on marine stations of the above mentioned sites, water, plankton and seafloor samples were taken.
Also, the monitoring studied system of management of waste arising during the drilling, speed and direction of ocean currents were measured, meteorological exploration of the territory was conducted.
After laboratory studies based on the results it is planned to prepare proposals for environmental activities.
