Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan, 27 / Trend E. Ismayilov /
The solar panel production plant is under construction in the city of Sumgait. It will be commissioned in February this year, deputy head of the Azerbaijani state agency on alternative and renewable energy projects Jamil Melikov told Trend today.
He said that at present, the operations are underway to test the new plant and the installed equipment. The workers are trained.
"At present, the enterprise is being tested," he said. "I think that the plant will start working in February."
He said that the plant will initially operate in one shift. Afterwards, there will be two shifts and three shifts.
Along with the production of solar panels, the plant will produce energy-saving LED-lamps.
The construction of the plant is financed by the private sector. It is being constructed by the Azerbaijani company Azguntex with the support of the agency for alternative energy sources.
The equipment installed at the plant was made in Germany. The prices on finished products at the plant will correspond to the cost of products offered by Chinese producers.
The annual production capacity will exceed 100,000 units of photovoltaic module (PV modules) with a total capacity 25 MW, and about a million units of various energy conserving resources.
Sumgait is located 35 kilometers from Baku.
