Turkish domestic investments in energy sector to increase by 1.7 times

The Turkish domestic investments in the energy sector in 2012 will increase to 3.912 billion lira compared to 2.354 billion lira in 2011, the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, published on the official website of the Ministry, said today.

Investments in January-March amounted to 371 million lira, or 9.5 percent of the total planned investments for 2012.

During this period, the main part of investments (90 percent) was invested by the Turkey Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, its structural units, as well as the Turkish electricity distribution corporation TEDAS.

Most of the investments from the total volume (about 186 million lira) in January-March was invested in the oil and gas sector.

The official exchange rate is 1.7925 TRY/USD on July 4.
