Algeria to increase gas exports to Egypt

Algeria plans to increase the export of liquefied butane gas to Egypt from 1 million tons to 1.5 million tons, the Al Jazeera channel quoted the Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr as saying on Wednesday.

The need to increase gas supplies appeared in response to growing demand for gas in the domestic market of Egypt.

The parties also agreed on processing of Algerian oil at Egyptian refineries.

Algeria ranks eighth in the world in its gas reserves, and fourth in gas exports.Most of the exports fall to the share of the U.S.- 23.9 per cent, Italy - 15.5 per cent, Spain - 11.4 per cent, France - 8 per cent, the Netherlands - 7.8 per cent and Canada - 6.8 per cent.
