Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, March 15 / Trend H. Hasanov /

Turkmenistan plans to commission the country's largest gas field "Galkynysh" in summer 2013, the Turkmen authorities reported today during the oil and gas road-show held in Dubai (UAE) these days.

According to the Turkmen media, this was stressed during Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's message to the participants. "We hope that we will commission the first plant which will refine gas from sulfur at Galkynysh," the Turkmen leader said.

He added that the innovations introduced in the oil and gas industry, existing and newly discovered large hydrocarbon fields, high rates of work conducted in Galkynysh industrial development are increasing the capacity of the country's fuel and energy complex.

Turkmengaz state concern reported in November 2012 that the capacities will be installed in the major Galkynysh field in 2013 to produce 30 billion cubic meters of tank gas a year.

The exploitation wells will be drilled within the project of the first phase of developing this field.
As local mass media reported with the reference to Gaffney, Cline & Associates (UK), Galkynysh is the second largest field in the world in its reserves of fossil fuels at 26.2 trillion cubic meters. According to specialists, the field has a total area of 1800 square kilometres.

In December 2009, the Turkmengas state concern signed contracts on service conditions for the implementation of a range of work with companies such as Gulf Oil & Gas Fze, Petrofac International LLC (UAE), CNPC Chuanging Drilling Engineering Company (PRC) and a consortium of LG International Corp and Hyundai Engineering (South Korea).

CNPC is involved in the gas production of 10 billion cubic meters per year and in particular the drilling and construction of installations for initial gas purification, gas processing plants, loops and collectors - pipelines and the construction of gas pipeline with the length of108 km. The drilling of 22 wells with average depth of 4680 metres is expected.

LG International Corp and Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd is building a complex for the purification of tank gas from sulphur with an annual capacity of 10 billion cubic meters.
Petrofac International (UAE) LLC is constructing a complex for the purification of tank gas from sulphur with annual capacity of 10 billion cubic meters and ground production facilities designed for obtaining tank gas with capacity of 20 billion cubic meters per year, as well as a 98km long pipeline, special cable and collectors.

Gulf Oil & Gas FZE (UAE) conducts work on the construction of underground facilities to produce 20 billion cubic meters of tank gas a year.

In general, the centre for automated management will operate in Galkynysh. Currently, state concern Turkmengaz and state corporation Turkmengeologia are also conducting drilling operations in six operating gas wells and two wells for wastewater discharge.
