Iranian parliament approves increase in fuel prices

The Iranian parliament has approved a proposal made by the oil ministry to increase fuel prices in the next Iranian calendar year, which starts on March 21, the Mehr News Agency reported on January 31.

The Iranian parliament has approved a proposal made by the oil ministry to increase fuel prices in the next Iranian calendar year, which starts on March 21, the Mehr News Agency reported on January 31.

Accordingly, natural gas price will be increased 130 rials (about 0.5 cent based on the U.S. official exchange rate of 24,850 rials) per cubic meter. Gasoline and diesel fuel prices will be also increased by 5 percent.

The increase in prices will be applied without taking into account the effect of the second phase of the subsidy reform plan.

The natural gas price was increased 100 rials per cubic meter in the current Iranian year, reaching 800 rials per cubic meter in winter and 1,300 rials in summer for household and commercial consumers.
