It is planned to commission 428 large industrial facilities with the total cost of over $9.7 billion in Turkmenistan in 2016, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported Oct.20.

Moreover, the construction of over 220 facilities will start as part of the implementation of the large-scale investment program, said the newspaper.

These facilities include: Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline with the capacity of 33 billion cubic meters, gas-chemical complex for producing 467,000 tons of polyethylene and polypropylene, a plant for producing 600,000 tons of gasoline by processing natural gas, airports in the Atamyrat city of Lebap province and Garabogaz city of Balkan province, a plant for producing 1 million tons of cement in the Koytendag district of Lebap province.

Furthermore, a large number of facilities will be constructed in the social sphere: hospitals, houses, health centers, kindergartens, secondary schools.

Addressing the expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov said that the policy of turning the country into the industrially developed one envisages the creation of modern industrial infrastructure, said the newspaper.

This allowed not only to reduce the impact of the ongoing world financial and economic crisis on Turkmenistan's economy, but also to maintain the GDP growth rate at 8.3 percent, according to the president.
