Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR and Russia’s Transneft have agreed on volumes of oil transportation via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline for 2018, a source in SOCAR told Trend Dec. 26.

In 2018, SOCAR plans to export about 1.5 million tons of oil through Russia, which is similar with 2017, according to the source.

"Around 1.5 million tons are planned to be pumped in 2018, but the final figure may be either higher or lower than it was planned,” the source said. “Thus, 320,000 tons of the total volumes have already been announced for the first quarter of the year."

The Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,147 kilometers long. The length of its Azerbaijani section is 231 kilometers and Russian section - 916 kilometers.

The pipeline was filled with oil in October 1996, according to SOCAR. Its highest capacity stands at 105,000 barrels a day.
